KEEP UP TO SPEED ON CWI PRODUCTS
January 1st, 2010 - CWI receives NFRC Thermal Ratings on Double-Hung & Casement
Century Woodwork has finally received its Test result back from the Accredited labs & Certification agencies on its Fixed & Operating Casements and Double-Hung. Using the simplest IG Units w/ Low-E (w/o Argon) so as to find out our "worst case scenario", we were still able to achieve an average U-Value of .35! This is important to mention because, with the advances in technology of the Glass Low-E coatings & sealants, we can simulate virtually all types of glass in our units and achieve below the 30/30 standard as implemented in the US in 2010. This is a MONUMENTAL step in our growth and represents us as a leader in ALL-WOOD window technology & quality. We are soon beginning more rigorous testing for our DP-Coastal Rated Casement Windows. In addition, we are eager to finish up final preparations on our newest offering, a special large awning-type window that, if engineered correctly, could become a breakthrough for the Coastal Markets as well. Stay tuned to our news for updates, specifications & photos of this new unit as it becomes available.
In addition, if you would like to download our Testing Certificates mentioned above, please see our "Forms" page above & scroll to the lower part.
September 1st, 2009 - CWI Adds Custom Interior Casework to Its Line-up
Following numerous requests for custom window seats, and furniture-like built-ins, CWI finally offered some custom window seats and casework to its customers. Though the design process was a little tedious at first, the end results were no less than perfection. Through the helpful hands of Richelieu's Atlanta branch technicians, we were able to find the highest quality E-Z slide drawer & hinge systems to ensure the easiest and most fluid operation for years of enjoyment by their owners. These units are custom designed by the job and can be built to exacting standards using the latest CNC technology and in almost any species we carry. If you would like to see the first window seat officially ever built by CWI, please refer to our page marked "Specialty Items" above and scroll down to the NEW section for more details.
IN THE NEWS . . .
May 1st, 2009 - CWI's DP Testing & Final Development Begins
After months of engineering & sample construction, not to mention constant requests from customers for CWI quality DP-rated doors and windows, testing is finally being scheduled and final stage development is underway. NCTL, a certified and accredited laboratory with offices in PA and FL will conduct the tests. DP ratings have become a key component and enforceable code on any coastal window and door applications. While the owners and staff of CWI are no stranger to these tests and this market, this will be the first entry into this segment by CWI as a company. This testing, which essentially measures the overall pressure performances that a window or door unit can sustain in some of the most violent storms both inland and coastal, is rated on a 0-100 scale. The tests consist of mainly a positive & negative cycling of pressures upon the surface of the units up to an astonishing 10,000 times per test! The results are recorded with federal and local agencies and official stickers are issued upon successful completion by the corresponding lab or agency. This process, if all goes according to 1st-time successful design specifications, should take approximately 4 weeks to complete. Please check back periodically to find out more and when the official products will become available.
UPDATE - testing is underway for both DP & Thermal testing for CWI Casement & DH Windows and should be available by October 1st, 2009.
