HISTORIC RENOVATIONS
With the rise of the Historic Registry and Preservation societies around the US today, it's no wonder that construction firms are finding it more and more difficult to meet the demands for their customers. On the one hand, the people of the United States feel that it is their duty to stop neglecting the relics of the past and start preserving them for their historical significance and period accuracy, ensuring that generations into the future can know who we as a nation were and where we came from. On the other hand, though, it does make the costs associated with these commercial buildings and even private residences rise dramatically when it comes to their preservation and the codes and regulations that follow it. Many times, projects can even become abandoned when the restraints become too much to bear on either side of the debate between preservation and progress.
That's where Century Woodwork comes into to help save the project. Our skilled staff has been performing restoration miracles for decades, and our ownership feels that it is perhaps the most important contribution that we can make on a daily basis. Our history is really all we have to know where we came from and where we're going. We at CWI are as skilled in this area as perhaps anyone in the Southeastern US. Using both cutting edge technology and old-world design and craftsmanship, we help to re-create some of the most amazing wood creations in our history, while also helping to stay on-time and on-budget. Our processes are tried and true, and our products seemingly speak for themselves. We have done work on college campuses such as Clemson University, University of Georgia, and University of Alabama, Historic Courthouses throughout the South, and more period-style homes of all sizes and scale than can be mentioned in one page. Some products that we continue to manufacture to this day are from a by-gone era and we feel it's our privilege to continue to make them.
PRODUCTS WE CAN SUPPLY
PROCESS TO PRODUCTION
Our method to maintaining the most streamlined process from project inception to installation is one that we have been practicing and perfecting for over 20 years. We begin the process by meeting with the client (either via telephone or face-to-face) and getting a deeper understanding of what the project entails, what the expectations are, the general budget guidelines, and the timeframe for the project to be completed in. Once we feel comfortable that our capabilities are suited to the project and that we can work productively in conjunction with the owners and contractors of the job, then we begin to gather up sizes, quantities, species, and all of the other specifications needed for general quoting. We then send our bid into the contractor and, provided the pricing and delivery schedule is acceptable, we begin our engineering and development work.
Using CAD software and custom engineering techniques, we design a scale model of the item(s) we will be producing. The best way to ensure the proper product is to request that an original of the item be sent to our facility if available to line up against our drawings. We then send our drawings to the customer for signature of acceptance, depending on the job scope CWI will take a deposit, and then the process of re-creating the past really begins! After that, we do our best to deliver all products at or below lead times and on-budget. After all, that is why we are who we are in this industry and why they come back for future projects.
